Twenty CNP-member nonprofit organizations will be on hand to share their missions and volunteer opportunities with visitors to the Chattanooga Market who are interested in serving their community. Visitors interested in volunteering go from booth to booth, learning how they can make a difference in our community using their skills and interests.
This year eNgAgE will have a new feature — an interactive service project that will allow attendees to participate in an “on-the-spot” volunteer effort. Throughout the day, everyone who visits the event can be a volunteer by stuffing 600 “sack packs” for children served by the Chattanooga Food Bank. All ages can participate, and this will be the first interactive volunteer project of this size held during the market.
What’s a sack pack? Sack packs are bags of food that school children who have no food to eat at home during the weekends can take home from school on Friday. Last year, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank provided about 2,200 sack packs per week to 25 area schools. The food bank works with 15 partner agencies that provide an additional 3,000 sack packs per week to serve hungry children in a 20-county service area.
Be at the Chattanooga Market between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and look for the displays in the middle of the pavilion. This Thanksgiving, make sure that all children have the food they need each day of the week. Stuff some sack packs at the Chattanooga Market on Nov. 18.
