Since the program is designed for those that are fairly new to growing their own garden, there will be a wide range of subjects covered. The topics at the program will range from selecting tomato varieties and soil fertility to weed and insect control. Whether it is selecting the variety that does well in this area, getting the soil fertility to the appropriate level or just getting the plants spaced correctly, there are a number of “gardening basics” that can help a new gardener get off to a good start.
The program is free but we do ask that you pre-register by calling the Walker County Extension Office at 638-2548 by Friday, March 22.
Norman Edwards is coordinator of Walker County Extension Service.
